Solution
Hi Senthil,
I have one physical disk with space of 100GB.
I am createing a VG (vg01) using this disk with default PE size (4MB) and Default Max Per PV.
At this situation, will the following parameter be created?
1) PE size - 4Mb
2) Max PE per PV - 25600.
1)Am i correct?
==>
PV Size -- 100GB
PE Size -- 4 MB
Max PE/PV -- PV Size / PE Size
-- 100GB / 4 MB
-- 25600
So you ca have Max 25600 PE's in this VG.
2)Then, this PE size and Max PE per PV will be taken for all othere PV if we are adding future?
==>
Yes, If you add above 100 also, VG will take maximum 100GB only.
3)So in futuer we have to add PV upto 100GB only?
==>
No, you can change the Max PE/PV parameter by "vgmodify command, but its required a patch, so that you can add more than
100GB as well.
4)othere wise it will be taken only 100GB?
==>If you are not changing the parameter, it will take only 100GB.

Re: what is the maximum size for one VG, PV and LV in HP-UX
Hi,
Which is your OS version??
==>If it is 11.31, by default vgmodify command will work.
==>If it is 11.23, you have to install LVM commands patch PHCO_38717 along with its dependencies PHKL_31500 and PHKL_32095.

yes it will be and earlier case you were not able to edit it, but you can edit the max PE per PV using vgmodify command.

Re: what is the maximum size for one VG, PV and LV in HP-UX
Hi,
If you have bigger size disks and if you dont wannt your LVs in very small sizes, I would always suggest you to go with PE of 32MB.

Sooraj
