What is the time window between unsuccessful login attemps ?

I have set 3 unsucessful login attempts, and then the account will be locked. My question is, how many longer I could have between each unsuccesful logins, and where I can reset this time window? On hpux11i trusted system.

I don't think it matters how long there is between the attempts (5 seconds or 5 weeks), after 3 the account will be locked.

I am not aware of any place that this time can be reset.

Time does not matter. It is the sheer number of consequtive unsuccessfull attempts.

1 could be a year ago. 1 could be yesterday. 1 could be today. If there was not a successfull login anywhere in between the account will lock.

You can however change the number of unsuccessfulls before lockout.

e.g. change unsuccsessfull to 6x.
modprpw -m umaxlntr=6 username
