Where to get ioconfig2infile for rebuilding ioconfig?

In the SW Recovery handbook in the chapter on IO, there is mentioned an unsupported tool called "ioconfig2infile" which will read /etc/ioconfig and output an ioinit infile suitable for rebuilding /etc/ioconfig. Does anyone have any idea where I can get hold of this? I have an unsupported tool to dump the contents of /etc/ioconfig to text and it would be simple to parse this to produce an infile for ioinit but if there is already a tool to do this ...

Re: Where to get ioconfig2infile for rebuilding ioconfig?

Hi Philip,

I found this tool on an internal-HP FTP server in Germany. However, since it is an unsupported tool, and one that we don't ship with our OS (we do ship some unsupported tools with our OS), I don't feel comfortable simply posting the tool to the ITRC. My guess is HP wants to know who has this tool, what they're planning on doing with it, warn them that it is unsupported, etc. before giving it out.

In order to get this tool, I suggest you open a support call with HP. Someone from the Response Center should be able to locate the tool very easily (it only took me a minute to find it) and provide it for you.

Regards,

Dave

Ok - I'll try this tomorrow - I wish I'd have kept a copy - I consulted for HP on one of their sites for three years and got used to having access to this sort of thing!

Actually - could anybody just mail this script to me since I already have the iodump tool which is exactly the same as ioconfig2infile except the output format is slightly different! If I'm going to misuse ioconfig2infile, I could already misuse the iodump tool (which was posted to ITRC) in precisely the same way! I can even point you to the thread where it's posted, if you like.

It's on its way to you. Let me know if you have any problems getting the binary to run on your system.
