What is the best option to find out whether the patch will take reboot or not?.

Methods:
1) Read the text file that comes with the depot.
2) swinstall -p (preview) without the -x autoreboot=true option. This will give an error if reboot is required.

Normally all Kernel patches require reboot
Some PHSS also require reboot but not always.. PHCO patches are very rare that they require reboot...

1. a patch that starts with PHKL is a kernel patch and will always reboot
2. if you are downloading from HP's website the patch will have a symbol alongside it to indicate reboot (from memory I think it's a terminal).
