Which Patch reboots the server?

Dear Sir,

What is the best option to find out whether the patch will take reboot or not?.

Ganesh,
look at the description of that patch.

For info on patching:

Re: Which Patch reboots the server?

Shalom,

Methods:
1) Read the text file that comes with the depot.

2) swinstall -p (preview) without the -x autoreboot=true option. This will give an error if reboot is required.

Re: Which Patch reboots the server?

The best thing to do to have a look at the patch desription and check Rebbot required field?

Normally all Kernel patches require reboot
Some PHSS also require reboot but not always.. PHCO patches are very rare that they require reboot...

Re: Which Patch reboots the server?

Two ways:

1. a patch that starts with PHKL is a kernel patch and will always reboot

2. if you are downloading from HP's website the patch will have a symbol alongside it to indicate reboot (from memory I think it's a terminal).
