Why the result from "swapinfo" and "glanceplus" are different ?
Hi , when I use "swapinfo" and "glanceplus" to get the memory info .
#swapinfo -t
Kb Kb Kb PCT START/ Kb
TYPE AVAIL USED FREE USED LIMIT RESERVE PRI NAME
dev 524288 61548 462740 12% 0 - 1 /dev/vg00/lvol2
reserve - 193148 -193148
memory 175400 100852 74548 57%
total 699688 355548 344140 51% - 0 -
While glanceplus output :
**********************************************************************************
Current Avg. High.
CPU Util | 6% 7% 99%
Disk Util | 2% 3% 26%
Mem Util SU | 93% 91% 93%
Swap Util | 51% 50% 51%
Why memory output is so different ?
thx

Re: Why the result from "swapinfo" and "glanceplus" are different ?
Hi,
swapinfo reports the amount of memory used for the psuedo-swap while Glance's "mem util" memory utilisation refer to the memory usage in the entire system.
"Memory used for swap" != "Memory occupied in system"
Hope this helps. Regards.

Re: Why the result from "swapinfo" and "glanceplus" are different ?
Hi
This may not be much help and I am currently no where near a unix box, but the example you gave looks like the top portion of glance. For swap you should go to the Swap Screen, if you don't see the menu at the bottom of glance then just type "w" and that will bring up the swapinfo screen. Post that information and then maybe we can see how different they are and explain why....
