Hi,
I have been tasked with performing a disaster recovery excersize at a remote site hosted by a company named SunGuard. Our shop currently runs Integrity servers - rx4640's running 11.23. We are scheduled to restore one of the Integrity servers onto an HP 9000 model N4000 #1 (W4B) with 8 550 Mhz PA-8600 processors. It is suggested that we use ignite to read a recovery tape created on the rx4640 into the HP 9000. It does not seem to me that an HP 9000 can run Integrity code, but I am not an expert on the subject. Can anyone tell me with any authority whether or not this can be done? I want to switch sites to one that has an Integrity, but need support for my position first.
Thanks,
Darrell Tschakert

Re: Will Integrity binaries run on an HP9000
Hi Darrell,
No you couldn't load an entire Ignite tape on an N-class from an rx4640. The OS is entirely different. But, depending on the code, you *may* be able to run application code. But *only* if it's not specifically compiled for Itanium-2. If it's "standard" PA-RISC code it can run on both. If it's Itanium-2 specific code it will only run on rx systems.
Rgds,
Jeff

Re: Will Integrity binaries run on an HP9000
PA-RISC Binaries will run on Itanium through the Aries Emulator. But there is nothing the other way round
