Re: Will my 32bit applications work on HP-UX 64 Bit OS.

Hi Jerome,

If I understand this correctly you wish to
upgrade your K370 server to HP-UX 11 64 bit.
You currently use 32 bit HP-UX 11. If this is
the case, your existing applications in most
cases will not work.

I suggest that you have all of your applications
for 64 bit certified and have the software to
be re-installed before you proceed to do
anything.

Hi,
if u reload the OS all the applications will be washed away. just do the upgrade to 11.0, in my cases orcale and MQ series are working fine.

Hi,
mount the HP-UX 11.0 OS cd
SAM-->Software Mangement-->Install Software to local host. Now u can see all the bundles which are in the cd, choose the 64 bit runtime environment, and install

good luck

Re: Will my 32bit applications work on HP-UX 64 Bit OS.

Hi

We upgraded from 10.20 to 11.0 64 bit and found that there where a few problems running 32 bit code on 64 bit enviroment.
We got problems with date handling, as no dates higher than year 2039 where allowed in mixed 32/64 bit. For 32/32 and 64/64 this limit is year 9999.

We used the Software Transition Kit to check our software for errors.

and
# more /etc/.supported_bits

Re: Will my 32bit applications work on HP-UX 64 Bit OS.

Hello Jerome,

no problem about those apps, as long as they
are for HP-UX11! But if you are on a 64bit
system, consider using "Application Domains"
(or "Memory Windows") for those 32bit apps.
That way you can have up to 1GB of shared mem
for each of them - as long as they do NOT have
to communicate one with the other.

See at "docs.hp.com" for a PDF and a WinWord
file explaining "Memory Windows" and read the
man pages for "set_memwindow".

Re: Will my 32bit applications work on HP-UX 64 Bit OS.

Hi,

Your applications will still work if you install 64bit HPUX 11. They will continue to run fine, but only as 32 bit, because they are 32bit applications.
You will have no problems ata ll.
