Will vgimport work with 11.00/VxFS v3.1 disk to 11.23/VxFS v3.5?

I'm about to do a cold install from 11.0 to 11.23(same machine). My goal is to vgimport original 11.00 volume groups into new 11.23 environment. As stated above, I'm running VxFS 3.1 on 11.00 server and VxFS 3.5 on 11.23 server.

The current disk layout is v3. Which appears to be supported on 11.23/VxFS 3.5. Will it work?

No problem. The newer version of the VxFS subsystem support all earlier versions. The reverse (ver 3.5 onto an 11.00 system) will not work.

Hi Brad,

Once you upgraded your OS to 11.23 and after importing the old volume groups ,you may get some warnings due to old filesystem version during the boot.

You may need to do upgrade the disk layout for all the old volume groups disks one by one at one step ahead by using vxupgrade.
