Win 95 connection to E45 running 11.0

My connection from Windows 95 telnet session to an E45 running 11.0 32 bit get
disconnected after only a few minutes of use.

I can telnet from a k210 or K410 to the E45 without any connection problems. I
can also telnet from a Windows NT workstation 4.1 to the same E45 without any
problem.

The problem only occures on Win95.

Any ideas.

Re: Win 95 connection to E45 running 11.0

The first question I would ask is, what version of Win95 are you using? There
are 3 varieties that I know of. Win95a, Win95b(OSR2), and Win95c(OSR2.5) If you
are not using at least Win95b, then you may experience difficulties with
Microsoft's implementation of TCP/IP. Later revisions do a decent job.

My recommendation? (Sounds crazy I know...) Install Internet Explorer 5.0 onto
your troublesome Win95 box. This replaces the winsock.dll and wsock32.dll files
(which are the dynamic link libraries for windows sockets and tcp/ip
connections) and should resolve your issue. If not, then I'd suggest upgrading
to Win98 as it is the least painful way of upgrading the core components of a
Win95 system. (Especially helpful if you don't want to rebuild/reload an entire
machine.)

Hope this helps you out.
