Hi.
I am still running Samba version 2.2.8a.
Everything was fine with host based security, then it was deemed insufficient even for a development box.
I've got :
workgroup = hp
security = share
encrypt passwords = yes
local master = no
People can generally get to the shared dirs, but sometimes they aren't authenticated and corespondingly I get:
Denied connection from tr
where tr is a hostname.
I believe I should change the timeout but I get confused on the many manuals, without finding a full parameter list.
Furthermore, is log level = 3 still a valid setting ?
The box tends to be overloaded and we just planned a 2GB to 6GB RAM upgrade.
TIA,
Marco

Solution
log level -3 is a valid setting as far as I know.
Samba 3.0 is a bit more robust and secure and might help with the issue without additional memory.
