Windows 2003 installation issue on IVM

I have successfully booted off the Windows install media, but am stuck at the point where I have choose the paritition to install Windows onto. Seems like its a terminal setting issue. I am unable to use the UP and DOWN arrow to select the partition.

I used SSH to connect to the VM Host. The terminal setting for the connection is "vt100". From the VM Host, I issued the "hpvmconsole -P " to connect to the Virtual Console to do the installation. I do not have a graphics console attached to this server (rx4640).

Any suggestions?

Shalom,

You can install windows on this server.

VMware for HP-UX does not support windows guests. At least last time I read the docs.

Re: Windows 2003 installation issue on IVM

I know I can install Windows, that is not the issue. The problem is one of terminal settings, when I get to the point where I have to chose to create a partition in un-partitioned space, I am unable to use the UP and DOWN arrow keys. Wanted to know if I have to have some special terminal settings. For e.g. the install doc says that ESC 8, emulates the F8 key, is there something similar for the UP and DOWN arrow keys. Seems like a simple thing I am missing here.

Appreciate any help.

Re: Windows 2003 installation issue on IVM

I found the answer. I opened an xterm and executed the hpvmconsole command, and then was able to use the arrow keys.

Re: Windows 2003 installation issue on IVM

Hi,

first: For Integrity VM Windows 2003 SP 1 is very well supported.

The question is: what terminal emulator you are using.
You may try putty or hyperterminal to access the virtual console, or even v for down or ^ for up.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
