Wyse terminal console std/in out issues
Hi all,
I have a Wyse60 console Terminal attached to a D270.
Now, when i boot the server, the console starts displaying the initial boot process information on screen. When it stars booting off disk, nothing is displayed on anymore. When i wait about 5mins, i connect to the server over network successfully which is the only way i can tell the server is up. I don't know why the screen stops displaying anything. I tried, stopping the boot sequence at the ISL> prompt. This was successful. But when i typed it was all garbage.
I tried resetting the terminal to factory defaults (i.e. held "g" whilst powering up) and then to go into the menu options area. I changed the PERSONALITY from WY 60 to VT 100. This didn't help.
If there is anything anyone can think of which will assist, that will be very much appreciated...

Re: Wyse terminal console std/in out issues
not sure if this will help you but a section
From link:
http://docs.hp.com/en/B2355-90698/ch04s04.html
Configuring the Wyse 60 Terminal
Configure the Wyse 60 terminal for use as an HP console by executing the following set of instructions:
Install the hardware, as described in the terminal's manual.
Configure HP-UX to use the Wyse 60 terminfo file to communicate with the terminal. To do so, set the TERM variable to wy60 by executing the following command for Posix or Korn shell:
export TERM=wy60
Your Wyse 60 terminal is now configured for use as an HP system terminal. Please be aware that the configuration is based solely on the Wyse 60 default configuration. If further adjustment is required.

Re: Wyse terminal console std/in out issues
lawrenzo, i checked out the link, unfortunately it is directed at HP branded terminals (i.e pressing D on startup) does not work for a wyse.
I had already tried exporting the TERM to be wyse60. still no go.
I think i'm missing something very obvious here.
p.s
I plugged in a HP dumb terminal and keyboard and everything was fine, unfortunately this was just a loaner. The wyse terminal works fine on another D class server, so i know it works.
any thoughts welcome.
