Re: X-server can not be started
The warning messages of dr_dt should have been displayed on the same terminal/console you used to run the command. However, they might have scrolled off too fast.
So, run dr_dt again, directing its output to a file this time:
dr_dt >/tmp/dr_dt.out
Once it completes, you can view the output with:
more /tmp/dr_dt.out
(When viewing the file with "more", use the space key or Enter to move forwards in the file, or the "b" key to move backwards. Return to the command prompt with the "q" key.)
The warnings may include multiple lines. Each warning will have "WARNING:" at the beginning of its first line.

Re: X-server can not be started
Hi Matti,
I run it and these are the results:
1. the file /var/adm/inetd.sec is not exsit. I could not find it on other B. 11.11 OS but only on B.10.20
OS.
2. the directory / is not properly configured. The current configuration is:
Permissions = drwxr-xr-x
owner = root
group = root
For HP CDE to function correctly, it should be a directory with the following configuration:
Permissions = dr-xr-xr-x
owner = root
group = sys
3. Same as the above for /etc/hosts permissions. (but it doen't say that it concern to the CDE).
In addition I attached the screen results (as a screen shot).
BR,
Yali

Re: X-server can not be started
This could be a good reason.
I assume this is a C8000 workstation.
Look at the rear side if you can see a VGA connector.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Indeed, it is a C800 workstation.
I can see the VGA connector there.

But it could be a problem with the graphics hardware.
Can you attach
/tmp/dr_dt.out
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
