We have HP-UX (11.23) and AIX servers behind firewall. When I try to connect AIX using different X managers everything is Ok. But X connection to HP-UX starts, opens login window and then hangs up. The further attempts to connect finish with error message: cannot find display etc. More over, HP-UX loses possibility to ping my workstation which is located in different network until I restart HP-UX. Could you please explain what is wrong with HP-UX.
Ports 6000-7000 are opened on the firewall,
X managers located in the same network works well.
Thank you in advance
Rafail

Solution
For X server problem check following logs.
$HOME/.dt/errorlog
/var/dt/Xerrors
syslog.log
Also run dr_dt and check what it gives.
For ping problem, check your following ndd setting.
ndd -h ip_ire_gw_probe
To check your setting->
ndd -get /dev/ip ip_ire_gw_probe.
This should be disabled.
$HOME/.dt/errorlog
/var/dt/Xerrors
syslog.log
Also run dr_dt and check what it gives.
For ping problem, check your following ndd setting.
ndd -h ip_ire_gw_probe
To check your setting->
ndd -get /dev/ip ip_ire_gw_probe.
This should be disabled.

Re: X server problem
Thank you RAC
The main problem was in ip_ire_gw_probe value. HP lost conection with PC.
dr_dt also showed some problems in X configuration
