X-server
Hello All,
I have C200, C110 boxes w/ FX4 graphics card. Previously, I loaded both 11.11b 11.0 and everything was OK. On those same box, I upgraded the HD and reloaded the OS and I can't not get the Xserver to load at all. Error message.
Can not start X-server
I have run /usr/contrib/bin/X11/dr_dt and found nothing wrong, hpterm is linked to /usr/bin/X11/hpterm. I also tried these command
cd /dev
rmsf *crt*
insf -evd framebuf
run /usr/contrib/bin/X11/xinit and got the following errors:
"Fatal Server error:
Couldn't open X pointer device! Is one attached?
...giving up
...Connection refused (errno 239): unable to connect to X server
...No such process (errno 3): Server error.
/var/dt/Xerrors:
Fatal server error:
Couldn't open X pointer device! Is one attached?
connection to :0.0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown).
Also, no error when starting up. /etc/rc.log is clean.
Thanks for your help.

Re: X-server
The pointing device is your mouse and when the Xserver tested for the three required components (video, keyboard and pointing device) a failure was detected. Swap with another mouse. If it still fails, there is a possibility that the mouse port is bad. Use ioscan -fn to check all the hardware components and their device files.
