X session on a 9000

I have an Oracle application that requires an open X session as a dependancy to run.

My question is ... is there any way that I can open an x session in the background on an HP 9000 that doesnt have a graphical display?

Re: X session on a 9000

Brett,

The capability to display applications remotely is a very fundamental capability of X Windows -- If you look at document ID DCEKBRC00000121, that will explain how this works. You will need some form of X display to use in conjunction with your Oracle installer; however, this does not need to be the local display of the system. In fact, you can use almost any UNIX graphical workstation or even a PC with the proper software installed.

If you cannot access that document, I can either post it here or email it to you.

Re: X session on a 9000

I use the VNC (Virtual Network Computer) on a system without graphics card and works fine.
