XCDROAST and DVD burning
I have encountered a problem with xcdroast with HP-UX 11.11 and using DVD's.
The program works fine for CD's but this compilation does not appear to support DVD's.
I can burn to DVD using cdrecord but the xcdroast does not show anything about DVD's.
Is there a version of Xcdroast that is available for HP-UX 11.11 that will burn DVD's or is there someone who has the source code to compile?
Thanks for your help.

Re: XCDROAST and DVD burning
I would suggest you use growisofs instead of cdrecord.
Afaik, the developer of cdrecord J├Г┬╢rg Schilling is at loggerheads with various Linux kernel developers because in the past they were so bold to patch the sources to make it fit with their interfaces.
(you can verify this, as cdrecord is priniting in its output header that it is a patched version each time it is invoked)
Therefore, cdrecord is only good for burning CDs but not DVDs unless you have compiled cdrecord from Schilling's original sources.
But to obtain a DVD burning capable version for cdrecord you require a time limited license key which Schilling supplies for private usage for free but which requires renewal after a year or so.
You can avoid all this hassel by installing dvdrw-tools, which growisofs is part of.
So assuming for instance, that you DVD writer is accessible via the /dev/dvd special file you can simply say
# growisofs -Z /dev/dvd /tree/to/store
or
# growisofs -Z /dev/dvd=/some/premastered.iso
but there's no premastering necessary
as growisofs is build around mkisofs
(thus its somewhat misleading name)

Madness, thy name is system administration

Re: XCDROAST and DVD burning
Shalom David,
Nobody has releases xcdroast for HP-UX.
However its an open source product and probably will compile on HP-UX.
Recording on HP-UX usually involves command line and cdrecord, which is available for HP-UX.
There is a group of open source tools for HP-UX 11.11 called Internet Express at http://software.hp.com HP tested these tools and they work pretty well.
