Re: xhost + , Xwindows
You have to purchase and install some third party applications like xterm, thunderbird on your windows PC, select the type of connection/emulation and you are through. You have GUI running.
But for the xwindows/CDE to get running on the console is difficult, as you may have to purchase a graphics card (a very $$costly$$ solution).

Naveej

Re: xhost + , Xwindows
By default, the console is not ment for graphical stuff. What is your purpose?
Cheers,

Re: xhost + , Xwindows
once upon a time i had a same problem at once
My rp-5430 srv have Oracle ias Human resources application running...When we wanted to run report srv so we have seen
it did not work because it needed xhost
but my rp-5430 did not have any grfical interface then We solved the problem...
i have AIX 4.3.3 srv which have grafical console then on AIX console;
i have written;
xhost +
and on Hr server we directed my AIX's ip
address when my report server running..
We do not have any problem unless reboot
AIX srv...
if we reboot AIX then We run to the system
room and just from AIx console do;
xhost +
That's all....
PS:Our rp-5430 and AIx srv locates on different systems rooms so that's why we have to run other system room
:-)
