xml2-config

Hello gurus,
could you please help me how to set the directory.
when i run xml2-config
--prefix=DIR change libxml prefix [default /home/bbslave/ocek/modules/libxml2/2.6.18/sd]
--exec-prefix=DIR change libxml exec prefix [default /home/bbslave/ocek/modules/libxml2/2.6.18/sd]
--libs print library linking information
--libtool-libs print linking information for use with libtool
--cflags print pre-processor and compiler flags
--modules module support enabled
--help display this help and exit
--version output version information

i want set the defauly directory to /opt/OCEK.
i tried with xml2-config --prefix=/opt/OCEK
but it is not setting.
