xmodem probems

I have two hpux servers both running HPUX B.11.000. Both servers have the same modem on them (US Robotics courier HST Dual Standard). Both server are using the same Cleo A+ software for our edi transmissions. The problem we are having is that the Xmodem protocol only works on our TEST server. The transmission on the production server fails on files larger than 1024. The only difference I see is that the device files are different size

could this be why XMODEM doesn't work on our production system?

that was the major number I was looking at. I've got to many things going on.
