XOMNI
The system backup has become very slow ( using DLT, less than 2 GBs per hour are backed up)
I exported the OMNI database, started dbinit and imported only the Devices and media in order to perform a test.
The data backed up are now more than 4 GBs.
now i should import again the database ( the informations about the data in the medium and so on....). How can i do to avoid the problem i had ( i don't want re-import all the data i had .....: the size of omni database was more than 1GBs , now is about 180 Mbs),what should the OMNI database size be? How can i do in order to optimize the OMNI system .
Thanks

Re: XOMNI
Few questions first : which version of OS and Omniback are you using ?
If OBII V3.00, there are lots of bugs and you should apply some patches... which you could find at HP Web Site...
Otherwise, problems begin to occur when OmniBack Database are becoming large, for sure. To avoid this, I could suggest to plan a purge of OB Object frequently. Other things, like number of pools, of medium, according to the policy of keeping mediums... In fact, everything that make the OmniBack Database grow up quickly.
To optimize speed, if you've got more than 1 Drive, you could reorganize BAR List and Pools, in order to use 2 drives or more for a specific backup. Those are just ideas, it is difficult to diagnostic your problems : it can also come from excessive IO and bottleneck, if saved data grow up quickly.
In that case, reorganize Bar List and Object to save in an other order. I.E : if a FS /fs1 is on Crtl A an other FS /fs2 on another ctrl B, but they are saved by the same Barlist, and there are more than one session on 1 drive, they could be excessive SCSI I/O on the drive.
Those are just ideas, and things to check.

Re: XOMNI
What i have heard about old release of OB, is that there are some bugs... So, you should first check all the OmniBack Patches at :
http://europe-support2.external.hp.com/wpsl/bin/doc.pl/sid=eb1a961f0d0f9a6b75/screen=wpslCandidateList
It may help.

Re: XOMNI
1 - Backup the omnidb
2 - Run a pruge on the database
3 - export the whole database out and then bring it back in again (this will help compress it)
4 - retry your backups you should see an improvment.
