xterm -t cannot read text
A customer would like to use the tektronix term emulation
He starts xterm -t but he cannot read what the text he is typing
Tried to modify foregroung, background color but still same issue
When I try to modify the cursor color with option -cr red, I see the red cursor
How can we make the text appears in the new screen?
Your help will be greatly appreciated
Thanks!

Re: xterm -t cannot read text
Perhaps a supported configuration should be used.
vt100 vt220, something like that.
For further assistance, please provide the OS and version number and hardware details.

Re: xterm -t cannot read text
xterm -t -bg blue -fg white
doesn't work at all. There is little hope in getting a patch...the Tektronix 4012 and 4014 emulation is based on terminals that have been obsolete since the late 1970's (it was first sold in 1974). See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tektronix_4014
Here is a reference (not to HP-UX but sounds like a match): http://mathstat.asu.edu/support/doc/unix/coping-with-unix/node140.html
This terminal is a museum piece and yes, a lot of Fortran code has 4012 and 4014 capabilities in it. But that code is obsolete because it depends on a 30 year old terminal. You might try searching for an emulator (I did not find anything current). If you have a REALLY old Sun box running Sun OS 4.1.xx, you could use tektool: http://www.cs.rit.edu/~hpb/Man/_Man_SunOS_4.1.3_html/html1/tektool.1.html
Once you get the old Sun box working, you can redisplay the image to the C8000.

Re: xterm -t cannot read text
no need to revive an ancient sun, Bill - just use an up-to-date one.
xterm -t
works at the Blade1500 (Solaris10) I'm having on front of me at this moment ...

PS: Perhaps a request for a patch can be set to a higher priority level, when you can tell 'SUN can do it' :-)

Re: xterm -t cannot read text
I found out something interesting....
If you use the legacy X11R5 xterm client thathas been archived in /usr/contrib/bin/X11R5/xterm, the tektronix emulation is working...Just try it:-)
I will assign the max points to myself:-)
Thanks again!
