Xterminals

We have old Entria Xterms and want to replace them. Does HP still manufacture an xterm.

If not what is the best replacement.

We need a very reliable X server to access ITO (OVO or OPC or ...)

Re: Xterminals

Hi
No, HP don't manufacture Xterminals any more.

One solution is Reflection or eXceed on a PC, this is the most common solution.

Some "thin clients" can work as Xterminals.

Re: Xterminals

Hi
One more solution:
If you have an Unix workstation (it not need to be a high performance) you can configure this to work as a Xterminal.

Re: Xterminals

Hi Robert,

how about running Linux or *BSD?
You could even go for a "Live CD", which is a configured system running from the CD alone - no harddisk needed (nor touched).

Re: Xterminals

You might want to check this previous discussion also. There is a link to a third party manufacturer NCD.

Re: Xterminals

yes another option:
www.cygin.com provides a unix that runs UNDER a windows pc. So the user would have their pc still, and there would be a window for the x-terminal.

Re: Xterminals

I have been using eXceed on my PC here for over two years, running the CDE. It has been very reliable and trouble free (with the exception of some problems when using the CDE lock screen feature). I have not had the font problems I used to get with an X terminal.
