ZAP utility for UNIX

Does anyone know if a ZAP utility similiar to SPZAP on MVS exists for UNIX? We have a need to zap a value at a specific offset within a object. Unfortunately, we no longer have all the necessary makefiles to re-compile the object with the new value. Perhaps GNU has something that would provide the same function?
