Another DNS question

Hi everyone

I have a messagelabs cluster that upon a DNS lookup returns multiple addresses. However, on AIX and linux (windowz seems to handle this) if I

# telnet 25
# ping

I get the message "unknown host"

Has anyone come across this before and now how to resolve

added the fqdn to /etc/hosts
