aol rejects my mail.

I think its because of this, output from a sendmail -v -d38.2

>>> MAIL From: SIZE=16

What can I do to get that flipping localhost out of the from section?

Re: aol rejects my mail.

aol rejects if dns doesn't resolve.

I added a dns record for localhost.investmenttool.com and aol started saying it would take my mail.

Steve

I'd still like to fix this.

Re: aol rejects my mail.

To have sendmail report only
invest@investmentmail.com
vice @hostname.investmentmail.com
just edit the Dj directive in sendmail.cf to investmentmail.com
It's probably commented out now like so
#Dj%w.foo.com

it's the %w that tells sendmail to stick the hostname in front of the domainname.

Re: aol rejects my mail.

Mark, great, you totally nailed the problem.

If I could only figure out now how to have my m4 macro generate without the comment and the .$w life would be wonderful.

the domain(mydomain.com)dnl directive generates error messages and sendmail won't start. It does not appear to put that line in at all.

Still, I might just /sed the sendmail file prior to starting the daemon.
