Re: Apache Version

Hi Kyle,

RH 8 came with 1.3.27-2, it's now switched to 2.0.40-8 if you download from RH.
RH9 comes with 2.0.40-21..

Re: Apache Version

2.0.47 is now the latest apache version, correct? Are there any major differences with the default 9.0 or 8.0 and this latest 2.0.47 apache version? Thanks!

Re: Apache Version

The big question is what is major ?
In fact, from 40 to 47, there were many misformed calls that were corrected, ending in some cases to no or misformed replies to queries, and one fail that could lead from local user to issue a DOS on the server (not remote)...
40 is fully functional if you don't need ssl and active pages. If you do, better update to 47...

Re: Apache Version

I'm not sure what would be considered major. I guess by what i meant is would it be worthwhile to get the newest up to date apache version or is there not too much of a difference to worry about it?

Thanks

Re: Apache Version

JP gave you a real good link. From there you'll read all improvements for each new release, and make your choice on that basis.
You can also subscribe to this letter, and receive it once a week (in the week end !) to keep up to date on what's going on...
ONce again, for static pages, foget it, if you use mod_ssl, mod_cgi, update to 47... or to 48 in a few days...
