Attaching DL 585 to MSA1000
Hi
I am planning to attach a MSA1000 to a redhat linux 4.0 AS server (DL585)
Can I install redhat linux and it will automatically detect the SAN. Are there any steps that I need to follow.
Thanks
Vipul

Re: Attaching DL 585 to MSA1000
Shalom,
If you know how to install Linux you are good.
RH 4 series automataically picks up qlogic hba cards and detects the array.
You may run into an issue where your system thinks the MSA-1000 is a boot device, but the install can and should be done while connected to the array.

Re: Attaching DL 585 to MSA1000
Hello,
RHEL4 should detect the HBA itself. But you should download and install the latest ProLiant Support Pack for Linux. Take care while choosing the disk for the installation. If the MSA1000 present a LUN to the server, you might see multible disks at the RHEL4 setup. You can find the local disks under /dev/cciss/c0d0. The disks presented by the MSA are listet as /dev/sda, /dev/sdb and so on.
Regards,
Patrick
