can't allocate kernel memory for module

I am trying to modprobe/insmod the smbfs.o module and I get the following errors:

[root@xxxxx root]# modprobe smbfs
/lib/modules/2.4.21-27.ELsmp/kernel/fs/smbfs/smbfs.o: can't allocate kernel memory for module; needed 44944 bytes
/lib/modules/2.4.21-27.ELsmp/kernel/fs/smbfs/smbfs.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.21-27.ELsmp/kernel/fs/smbfs/smbfs.o failed
/lib/modules/2.4.21-27.ELsmp/kernel/fs/smbfs/smbfs.o: insmod smbfs failed

I have never seen this before, any ideas? Samba is started.

Shalom TJ,

What version of samba are you using.

I'd recommend a kernel upgrade.
