Oops! That was HP-UX... for RH Linux, chage -d0

This will have same effect as the passwd -f in HP-UX.

You really should read the replys people write to EXACTLY the same message you posted a little while back.

The commands have not changed in this time so the answers are still exactly the same.

Actually the question is not quite identical, just very similar. You could however always try reading the man pages, the command is the same passwd and if you just spent a minute or two reading man passwd you would know everything you will ever need to know about changing passwords on a Unix box.

After I use the "passwd -d0 userid" , now , some users can't change their own password, the error is as below,
#passwd
passwd: Authentication token manipulation error ,
can suggest how to fix it? thx.

In Red Hat there is an option in the user manager to set password exparation and other restrictions
