RH8 No sound on Armada 7400 ESS1897
Hi,
Just installed RH8 on a Cpq Armada 7400, and upon loading of KDE, I get error message about no sound (no such device). Can someone tell me how to get the sound working on this unit?
Thanks in advance!

Re: RH8 No sound on Armada 7400 ESS1897
Hi Jason,
Have you tried running sndconfig and changing DMA from 0 to 1. I have installed many versions of Redhat onto Compaq systems and, with few exceptions, always had to change the DMA to 1. Since most of these had build-in sound, I have always selected ESS1688 Audiodrive and changed the DMA to 1. If you have a soundcard installed, like a SB Live, etc, make sure you have selected the appropriate driver.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Pete
