Compaq Presario 1200 (12xl125) Slackware Problems
Hi.
I'd like to know how to get this thing to run in standby/sleep, and/or how to get it to turn off the monitor after 3 minutes. I have tried setting DPMS, but to no avail. I will post my xorg.conf if needed.

Re: Compaq Presario 1200 (12xl125) Slackware Problems
In addition to setting DPMS, in slackware you need to activate standby mode in /etc/rc.d/scripts
Otherwise
Try for "suspend" or "power off" instead of "standby". They all apply to the monitor.
Set "standby" to one minute, "suspend" to two, and "power off" to three, and just watch for the right one.
OR
put a line in file "/etc/rc.d/rc.local "
modprobe apm
now your systems' power management should work
