Re: CPU Recognition

If you see the 16 CPU on /proc/cpuinfo, the system should be able to use all of them.

¿How did you determine that the OS is using just one of them?

I use the top command and 90% of just one cpu is using!!!!!

Re: CPU Recognition

You could run the "mpstat -P ALL 5" command and ensure to run multiple processes to identify the load on each processor.

Thanks Ivan
I saw all the 16 CPUs but another problem is that Oracle 10g r2 which is installed on the server just using 4 or 5 CPUs . and othe CPUs are idle??????

Re: CPU Recognition

Maybe, if you want to stress your system you need a benchmark tool, like hammerora, Swingbench or similar.

Re: CPU Recognition

Shalom,

I see no valid reason for your original conclusion. The OS is going to use all CPU's available.

A quick look at top should show 16 cpus in this example.

Re: CPU Recognition

Press "1" into "top" - you'll see all your CPUs:

Re: CPU Recognition

Thank you everyone
Hi I saw the CPUs after pressing 1 but i think it depends on OS (SLES 10)!!!!to use the CPUs...
