device names for R1500XR and HP StorageWorks LTA 920e

We have SLES10 and we don't know the name of the device files for an UPS-R1500XR and HP StorageWorks LTA 920e. Is it necessary to create the device files manually. If yes how? If not how can I identify the correct device names?
