All,
I am getting this error:

it puts root in read only mode, I can not mount it rw. Any idea?

Hi,

good thing - this probably means that the transaction in question got interrupted before any incosistency would result.
bad thing - usually one has to re-form the fs journal in that situation, and I couldn't tell You how to do that with ext3...

BUT: look at the following link, and especially at the fsck -C -y and also note, that there ought to be an initial error one line ahead of the 'journal has aborted'-messages.

any error messages on the console??

A full fsck should clean this up. Otherwise the filesystem in question is corrupted and needs to be restored.
