Disk Information

I have a linux box running AS 3, but no LVM. only fdisk. usaing this how can i find out the following.

1. Is there any storage attached to the machine. If so how much of it is unallocated?

2. How many unued hard disks available?

Thanks

Re: Disk Information

Shalom,

fdisk -l /dev/hda

replace /dev/hda with something real.

Re: Disk Information

1. If you run "fdisk -l" without any arguments, you will see the list of disks and partitions if any.

2. This should be identified by matching the used partitions with file systems or swap area. If you don't see any partitions on the disk, then the disk is unused.

Basically, to identify used and free space for a system you should consider the output of:

fdisk -l
df
swapon -s
Por que hacerlo dificil si es posible hacerlo facil? - Why do it the hard way, when you can do it the easy way?
