DL380 G5, debian: smartctl cant show all disk info
hi there
we bought a DL380 G5 equippet with original HP disks. when i run the following command i get:
# smartctl -i -d cciss,1 /dev/cciss/c0d0p1
smartctl version 5.38 [x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu] Copyright (C) 2002-8 Bruce Allen
Home page is http://smartmontools.sourceforge.net/
Serial number: 7SP0HKT3
Device type: disk
Local Time is: Wed Apr 15 12:29:47 2009 CEST
Device supports SMART and is Enabled
Temperature Warning Disabled or Not Supported
so it looks like smartctl can access the drive. but when i want more information about health status i get:
Log Sense failed, IE page [scsi response fails sanity test]
Read defect list: asked for grown list but didn't get it
Error Counter logging not supported
Device does not support Self Test logging
why does orig. HP disks not support this anymore?!? we have other HP servers (DL360) with no problems on that. is it because HP is using cheaper hardware? the controller is a cciss like in the 360's. so where is the difference?
is there a way to solve this issue or do we have to buy other products now?
regards, frank
