dmp_errd_loop

Hi

I was wondering if anyone had ever come accross this before ?

I have noted on three redhat servers the same behaviour

Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 3 (Taroon Update 3)
Linux version 2.4.21-20.ELsmp (bhcompile@tweety.build.redhat.com) (gcc version 3
.2.3 20030502 (Red Hat Linux 3.2.3-42)) #1 SMP Wed Aug 18 20:46:40 EDT 2004

I see two processes use high CPU usage for a number of hours then these processes return to a normal usage.

They are dmp_errd_loop and kswapd

root 435 13.0 0.0 0 0 ? SW May03 18591:43 [dmp_errd_loop]
root 7 6.2 0.0 0 0 ? SW May03 8907:44 [kswapd]

These processes use high CPU usage for a number of hours before returing to normal.

I dont see any pgouts or swap usage increase during this time, so I dont believe kswapd is running high due to paging, and the dmp_errd_loop was to do with dynamic multi pathing, yet the only disks are internal RAIDED CCISS disks for a DL380 Proliant server.

Has anyone ever seen this behaviour ?

Thanks
Argh ye land lovers !
