Re: DNS

Do you by chance mean "how many zones can BIND 9 under RHES 3u4 support?" ?

Usually a server will run a single DNS server with multiple zones being either primaried or secondaried.

That being said, a PIII or P4 single processor server running RHES3 and BIND 9 can support many hundreds domains without breaking a sweat.

I personally manage one running about 400 domains without issue.

Re: DNS

Hi Stuart

Sorry, should have been more specific, the question was simpler than that

How many DNS servers can I have in /etc/resolv.conf

Other sources suggest 3

Re: DNS

Three is the max.

I believe that's a Unix standard that Linux chose not to expand.

Re: DNS

U can have a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 3 dns servers in ur resolv.conf file.
If u r registering a public domain it is suggested that You must have at least 2 nameservers (RFC2182 section 5 recommends at least 3 nameservers), and preferably no more than 7.
