and if you are looking for latest versions of rpms of your favourite software, look for your distro web site or any mirror.

When I need rpms usually I look for it in:

http://www.rpmfind.net

there are rpms for a lot of
distros and architectures.
You can even find an rpm searching for a file it should contain.

If you are using Red Hat, I think a good start point is www.redhat.com and then downloads, you can find the latest releases, error updates, and security advisors.

WARNING !!!

If you are talking about the "rpm" program itself, be warned that it is a VERY TRICKY operation to upgrade, especially if the RPM database format is to be migrated (for example from v3 to v4). In the past, I lost a complete RPM database doing this.

If this is your case, please post a specific message and somebody will help you in migrating.
