EMC cx300 monitoring
HI all, we have 2 cx300 attached to out dl580 servers running redhat as3. How can we monitor these via openview, since we monitor everything via that. cx300 is currently setup to call home but our preference is that we get notified first before emc. One example is we had a major disk failure and I didn't know about it until emc called me. And also, no messages were generated in any of the system logs as well. Your time will be truly appreciated.

Re: EMC cx300 monitoring
I thing you are not getting many reply's here because this is more an HP OpenView / EMC questions !
To my knowledge HP OpenView treats (act on) logs that get fed from various external input's (in this case EMC log and management layers)
You are EMC customer ? so can you not ask then how you could do this ?
once this get fed to OpenView it is then just a matter of treating/react upon theses EMC messages.
I do not know the EMC HW you are talking about but most probaly there is a serial connector on the console (if not a network one) , but the set up would have to be arranged between the EMC rsponsible person and the HP OpenView responsible. (our do you hold both theses hats"
That the way' I would start working on this problem.
