Eudora Connection Refused Error Message with Sendmail Server

Hi there --

I am running a Eudora Windows client and am having problems connecting to a Sendmail 8.13.7 server running on a Fedora Core 5 system. The server has Bastille Linux installed as well to 'harden' the system. Every time I try to connect to the server, I get a "connection refused" error message.

I verified that Sendmail is running, there are no firewalls activated, and that port 25 is open. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Eudora uses IMAP/S or POP3/S to pull out mail from a remote server. You should enable that instead of searching elsewhere.

Shalom,

See that dovecot is configured.

chkconfig dovecot on
chkconfig --list | dovecot

You will need to read the English Language config file and make changes to support the possible formats, pop3 pop3s imap imaps

Port that must be open:
pop3 110
imap 143
pops3 995
imaps 993

service dovecot start

For dovecot to work properly with secure/SSL you will need to generate a security certificate for dovecot, or purchase one from an appropriate authority.
