Fedora Core 4 NC1633 NC3134 Proliant DL580 G3
I have a dual port nc3134 with nc1633 gigabit, the gigabit works great, the ethernet ports never come up at boot. Dmesg says :
PCI: Failed to allocate I/O resource #1:40@0 for 0000:08:04.0
PCI: Failed to allocate mem resource #2:100000@f8000000 for 0000:08:04.0
PCI: Failed to allocate I/O resource #1:40@0 for 0000:08:05.0
PCI: Failed to allocate mem resource #2:100000@f8000000 for 0000:08:05.0
Tried alias eth1 e100 and alias eth1 eepro100 without success. Some other driver option to try?
Saw one newsgroup article I did not understand about the different pci width and speed, so it needs to be in a certain slot ?
Am I just wasting my time using retired hardware ?

Re: Fedora Core 4 NC1633 NC3134 Proliant DL580 G3
Shalom,
ifconfig eth0
ifconfig eth1
See if you can ping those addresses.
I thinks if the card is up and functional it should work in any PCI slot.
Can you tell me what you mean by the ports not coming up?
Also perhaps post the following config files.
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth1
/etc/sysconfig/network
If this is security sensitive, alter the ip addresses but be consistent.
