Firmware update in a DL360 RHEL 2.1
Hi all,
I have a ethernet link problem in one of my ethernet network cards. Thats my configuration:
Two cluster nodes: DL360 G3
OS : RHEL 2.1AS (Pensacola) 2.4.9-e.27smp #1 SMP
From the support center said I need to update de firmware, this one: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=316558&swItem=MTX-UNITY-I24045&prodNameId=3288138&swEnvOID=1046&swLang=8&taskId=135&mode=4&idx=1
My question is. If I make the fw update, could my current driver stops to work?? I mean, if I need to update the FW, and later update the driver.
Because I can break the RAID and install the driver, but if I update the fw later I can't downgrade it. Thats true??
I think, if I update the fw, the driver must continue working. But I want to sure it.
Thanks a lot.

Re: Firmware update in a DL360 RHEL 2.1
Shalom,
Yes it is possible that updating firmware could cause a working system to become non-working.
If the hardware is on the RH hardware compatibility list, its been tested with current firmware and this outcome is unlikely.

Re: Firmware update in a DL360 RHEL 2.1
Thanks for the reply. I saw that now the firmware upgrade could be make, with an RPM like nicfwupg-.rpm and this RPM installs a command wich I can do the upgrade in the same way as the downgrade... so now the downgrade of a firmware is more easy.
Much better for us... :-)
But I will carry with me the driver to, so I could install the driver if I have some problem. Firs I will break the mirror RAID so I could repair quickly the sistem.
Thanks again.
