Getting my integrated sound recognized in linux on a compaq presario 5000.

How do i get sound in linux on my compaq presario 5000?

Which distro are you using? Have you tried running the configuration tools to set up the soundcard? I think the machine has a intel 810 chipset so it should have a working driver too from what I remember.

My distro is slackware 8.1. I don't know if there are any config tool's , i have not seen any yet in the month i've been using it. Any further info would be appreaciated (if you have any).
