Gigabit interface

hi,

I have a DL 380 G4 with RedHatEL AS 4
with 'HP Embedded NC7782 Dual Port PCI-X Gigabit Server Adapter'
How can I force the speed to 1000Mbps
mii-tool doesn't seem to be able to do that ....

Use 'ethtool'.

But first I'd suggest using the search function of these forums (or use google to search them), as this question has come up many times.
