Hardware monitoring agents on non "stock" version of linux
We have deployed a hosting automation system from SWsoft that is based on their own kernel of Linux. Because of that we are unable to install the monitoring agents on the box and use insight manager with it.
Does anyone out there have any suggestions on what we should do? Does Compaq have a generic version of their agents?
This is the kernel version we have:
Kernel 2.4.1-008stab043.15.swsoft-smp on a 2-processor i686
The server is an ML370R G1
Thanks in advance for any help/advice

Re: Hardware monitoring agents on non "stock" version of linux
It's hard to believe this breaks your application. Witout knowing alot of how your monitoring apps works, I could only offer suggestions base on what I've encounter in the past. Have you tried recompiling and letting it know that there's a new kernel in town (assuming it depends on the current running kernel). Have you thought of using other monitoring tool, Bigbrother works great for me. The url is http://bb4.com

Re: Hardware monitoring agents on non "stock" version of linux
Hello,
Some of the drivers needed to make Proliant agents work are automatically recompiled over your running kernel during installation. Therefore, you should make sure that the header files and kernel sources are installed for the 2.4.1-008stab043.15.swsoft-smp you are currently running.
Good luck.
