Hardware monitoring via shell

Hy!

We just set up a DL380 Server os SLES9 and now we would like to use a simple tool to have a look at our hardware.

Nothing with SMTP or HTTP !!!

Just a simple tool that writes to the messages or warn or that can be used to generate an e-mail.

We use serveral tools like logmail or bash-scripts !!!

Thanks!

Re: Hardware monitoring via shell

Indeed; try HP/Compaq Insight Manager and ISEE. You can find them on the HP's website at:

http://h18004.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/locate/1110_5561.html

(if link doesn't work, try "Software & Drivers" from the your server's page / DL380)

Re: Hardware monitoring via shell

At least for the Smart Array 5i install hpacucli-7.20-16.linux.rpm (http://h18004.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/21618.html)

Re: Hardware monitoring via shell

Hello!

I just installed both tools!

The hpasm-7.2.0b-204.sles9.i586.rpm is running.

At startup it tells me:

WARNING: hpasmd: System Power Supply: General Failure (Power Supply 2)

Which is ok, as I used this "error" to test the messaging.

1) But how can i make the tool sending this massege every e.g. 10 Min. ????

I also installed the hpacucli-7.20-16.linux.rpm which is running. But as I noticed I just can start this tool manually.

2) Is there a possibility to make the tool monitoring my hd`s ? Noticing me when someting is going wrong ????

Re: Hardware monitoring via shell

Bjorn,
could you send me the shell scripts you've accumulated/written to monitor arrays and logical drives please?

Thanks.
