I'm familiar with IPChains? OS RedHat 6.2 will be upgrading to 7.0
Have not compiled Kernel.

you will find several HOWTO's there, including a Firewall-howto, networking-howto, etc...

Have fun learning Linux. You will have to read a lot, but the reward afterwards will be very satisfying !

Just make sure you read the how-to's on the how-to's.
They are not real newbie friendly I found out and assume you know more than you and I probably do.

Please read the Home-networking-mini-Howto in your Redhat7.0 doc CD (if you have). You need to have two NIC on your linux box. It is a matter of 10min setting. First time you might have some problem. Recently I have done this successfully.
