high mem support

I am running Redhat kernel 2.4.x version on an Athlon CPU. My physical mem is about 2 Gbytes but I am only seeing 1 Gbytes. Is there a way to turn on support for hig memory? Thanks.

Hello,

Even in kernel 2.4, you have to compile the kernel with high memory support. However, as you are using RedHat, you may download a pre-configured kernel with high memory options at :

ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/updates/7.2/en/os/i686/

Choose the "kernel-enterprise" version.
You may also have it on your RedHat install CDs.
